ASSURE Model
DEAR JOURNAL
TODAY WAS A MUCH DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE. IT WAS TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT I'D ANTICIPATED. THE FIRST PART OF THE LESSON WAS A BIT CHALLENGING FOR ME. I HATE THE IDEA OF ATTENDING CLASS AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GRASP THE CONCEPT TAUGHT.
I WAS VERY FRUSTRATED AS AT FIRST MY LAPTOP JUST WOULD NOT CONNECT WITH THE INTERNET THAT WAS PROVIDED. THIS WAS MY FIRST SET BACK. MRS. ROBERTS WAS KIND ENOUGH TO ALLOW ME TO USE HER COMPUTER BUT TO NO AVAIL WAS I GETTING A HOLD OF THE FIRST PART OF THE LESSON.
THIS HAD ME CONFUSED AND FRUSTRATED TO A POINT I JUST FELT LIKE GIVING UP, BUT I ALLOWED THE ADULT IN ME TO TAKE OVER. ALTHOUGH I FELT A BIT SHORT CHANGED I DIDN'T ALLOW THAT TO DITER ME FROM PARTICIPATING IN THE REMAINDER OF THE CLASS.
FOR THE SECOND PART OF THE LESSON WE LOOKED AT THE ASSURE MODEL. I SEE IT AS AN INTERESTING WAY OF DOING LESSON PLANS. AFTER VIEWING AND LISTENING TO THE AUDIO I REALIZED THAT THE ASSURE MODEL ALLOWS TEACHERS TO UTILIZE THE CORRECT TECHNOLOGY TO HELP STUDENTS HARNESS THE SKILLS OF PROBLEM SOLVING, CRITICAL THINKING AND COLLABORATION. IT CAN BE BROKEN DOWN INTO SIX COMPONENTS ANALYZE LEARNERS, STATE OBJECTIVES, SELECT MEDIA AND MATERIALS, UTILIZE MEDIA AND MATERIALS, REQUIRE LEARNERS PARTICIPATION, EVALUATE AND REVISE.
WHAT I WOULD HAVE LEARNT THROUGHOUT THE LESSON WHICH IS OF IMPORTANCE IS THAT EVEN IF YOU ANALYZE YOUR STUDENTS ON THE FIRST DAY OF HAVING THEM IN THE CLASSROOM IT IS ALSO AN ON GOING PROCESS. WITH THE USE OF THE ASSURE MODEL I REALIZE THAT AS AN EDUCATOR I WILL BE MORE AWARE OF THE DIFFERENT LEARNING STYLES OF MY STUDENTS AND TO ENSURE THAT EACH LEARNER NEEDS IS MET.
