Require Learner Participation
Introduction:Students will view  video on parts of a seed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ49t8S2dWo
Base on the video seen students should be able to draw and label a diagram of the seed and state the function for each.
Procedure:
Step 1 Students will be placed into groups of fours where they will be given some dry red bean seeds along with red bean seeds that have been soaking in water.
Step 2 Students will be asked to examine the outside of their dry bean seed. Students will identify and name the different parts of the seed based on the description given by the teacher. Eg. the red outside covering of the seed-seed coat, white mark at the side of seed-seed scar. Hole above or below the seed scar-tiny hole.
Step 3 Teacher explains the functions of each part.
Step 4 Teacher instructs students to examine the beans that were soaking and describe them. Ans. the seed coat is wrinkled and for some the seed leaves have split open the seed coat. Teacher explains this is because water has entered the seed leaves through the tiny hole and have caused the seed leaves to swell.
Step 5 Teacher ask students to remove the seed coat of one of the soaked beans. Teacher explains to students that the white part that they are now holding are the seed leaves. Students note the number of seed leaves present in a bean seed.
Step 6 Students examine the inside of their seed leaves to find the embryo (young plant) containing the baby root and baby shoot.
Step 7 Students draw and label the diagram of a seed
Closure: Students review the parts of a seed and their functions.
Evaluate and Revise
  1. Students performance
Teacher will use a checklist to monitor how well students would have drawn and label the parts of the seed.
